“International style”, first proposed in 1932 at the New York MoMA (Museum of Modern Art) exhibition entitled “Modern Architecture : International Exhibition” and publication of the same title, has become a key reference to an innovation movement of architecture expression codes that originated in Europe and the United States in the early twentieth century, and on a more general level, it has become a general term for descript the universal architectural style of metropolises around the world today. However, how to define the “international style” ? What is the origin of “modern architecture”? What is the significance of “modern architecture”, as a architectural expression code innovation movement with its outstanding representations of pioneers and groups to the history of architecture in general? This course attempts to answer the above basic questions through the reproduction of the historical evolution process, and within this process, we hope to cultivate students’ cultural sensitivity, historical awareness, and improve the cultivation of architectural aesthetics.
