Dr. Zui Cheng received her Ph.D. degree in Learning Design and Technology from Purdue University in 2019 and a Master’s degree in Communication, Media and Learning Technologies from Teachers College at Columbia University in 2015. Before coming to SuSTech, she was a learning designer at the University of South Florida. Her research is concerned with three focus areas in educational technology: motivation, technology integration, and problem-based instruction. She had published multiple peer-reviewed articles in top-tier journals. She is a reviewer for the Journal of Computing in Higher Education (JCHE) and Educational Technology Research and Development (ETR&D). She is also a Purdue University certified qualitative researcher. She serves in the doctoral student dissertation committee in the College of Education at Purdue University and as the conference planning lead for the Society of International Chinese in Educational Technology (SICET) at the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT). She won the 2019 AECT International Conference TED Award for Best Proposal, the Frank B. DeBruicker Graduate Award in Educational Technology, and several other awards.
